About this place
At Yamanakabo, the zhajiangmian fills the bowl with seasoned minced meat and broth that clings generously to the noodles. Rather than the typical brothless noodles tossed in sweet-savory meat miso, this version is prepared in a rich soup where ample toppings cushion the tender noodles, making for a deeply satisfying bowl.
For something cleaner, the shio ramen carrying a fragrant hint of shrimp is another dependable choice. Light yet rich in dashi stock, the broth cradles glossy wavy noodles, easily paired with toppings like seasoned soft-boiled egg or chashu pork without feeling heavy. You can also match your mood with a sweeter miso ramen layered with minced meat and bean sprouts, or an aromatic shoyu ramen.
Alongside the noodles, the plump, generously sized shumai are hard to pass up. Packed with savory meat, their substantial presence sits comfortably beside other classic sides like gyoza, stir-fried pork and vegetables, or pork-miso omelet. They pair naturally with a cold beer for a leisurely meal, or alongside half-orders of fried rice and daily sets when you want a hearty feast.
The dining area offers both counter and table seating, fitting solo lunches as easily as a casual dinner on the way home from work. Payment is cash only.
